Our certified Jazzercise instructors, have earned the right to teach Jazzercise by completing an intense three-day workshop and performing a letter-perfect audition. Becoming a Jazzercise instructor requires dedication and thorough training. After submitting adequate references and putting in long hours of practice they were required to learn approximately 15 Jazzercise routines for their audition; pass a written exam on basic anatomy, exercise physiology and nutrition; learn Jazzercise business practices; and become certified to perform cardiopulmonary resuscitation (CPR).
Katie Chrostowski has been commited to Jazzercise for over two and a half years at the Collierville YMCA. “The thing that I love most about Jazzercise is having an excuse to dance again, while getting a work out”, said Chrostowski. Katie decided to become an instructor because “Jazzercise lead me to a healthier lifestyle and I want to be that motivator for someone else”, Chrostowski. Katie is a full time second grade teacher at Graves Elementary, working on her Master’s in Education and can be found at every Tiger Basketball game.
Kristen Smith was “looking a for a fun way to loose weight after gaining about 30 lbs after I got married in July 2004” when she tried her first Jazzercise class. “I LOVED the program and wanted to get more involved” said Smith. With 3 years of being a Jazzercise Instructor under her belt, she decided to tackle, Ownership. “Jazzercise is a fun workout and I have met so many people”, Smith. In her spare time Kristen is a Clinical Pharmacist Leader for excelleRx, wife to Owen, an X-Ray Technician, and mom to her little angel, Samantha.Brittany Rhodes was not born in Memphis, but her blood runs BLUE. She’s kinda a big time Tigers fan! Brittany grew up in Bartlett, TN and attended her first Jazzercise class in 2004. She loved it and thought that becoming an instructor “would be a good way to hold myself accountable to working out”, said Rhodes. Now 2 years later and 25 lbs. less Brittany is ready to hit the ground running in a new Center with new Energy. “I like the atmosphere; I am not a gym person. Jazzercise appeals so many different people, it is not intimidating. You feel welcome and like you belong and it WORKS! Brittany is a full time Loan Officer at Bulab Employees FCU, wife to Memphis Firefighter, Judd and mother to her 2 girls Gracie and Olivia.
Elizabeth Offerle made the commitment to herself to get healthy in January 2008. She was hooked; and was on the path to become a Jazzercise Instructor less than 6 months later! “I decided I wanted to become and instructor. Jazzercise is a fun way to keep fit”, said Offerle. When Elizabeth is not Jazzing she is a full time Math Teacher at Arlington High School, wife to Arlington High School Coach, David and mother of 2 girls Payton and Mary Kathryn.
Melissa Dewitt started Jazzercise is January 2009, “I’ve never done an exercise program beofre and I enjoyed Jazzercise so much” said Dewitt. She liked it so much that less then 6 months later she decided to go through Instructor workshop and is our latest graduate. “It’s actually fun and it works! I am so excited about getting started”, Dewitt. Melissa is a part time Labor and Delivery nurse at St. Francis Bartlett, wife to Memphis Police Officer, Stephen and mother to her 2 children Emily and Jonathan.
